My 6-month-old baby moves around on her back. Is this normal?

My 6-month-old baby is starting to move all over the place on her back. Is this normal?

Good for her. Of course she wants to become mobile, and learning to move around on her back is the first step. The great thing about it is that she's using important back muscles. When babies slept on their tummies, or were on them while they played, they strengthened their back muscles, which are critical to future standing and posture control. Now, many parents are too frightened of the prone posture to put their babies on their tummies even for play periods. Back muscles are not getting enough action.
